Hutchins 5/16″ Offset Sander 6″ PSA (700)

The Hutchins 5/16″ Offset Sander 6″ PSA (700) is an advanced 6-inch air-powered random orbital sander, specifically designed for professionals seeking rapid and efficient material removal. With its notable 5/16-inch (8 mm) offset orbit, this tool significantly accelerates sanding processes, offering approximately 25% faster material reduction compared to models with smaller offsets. It operates using Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) sanding discs, ensuring a secure attachment for aggressive work. Despite its powerful performance and high material removal rate, the Model 700 maintains the signature smooth operation and low vibration characteristics that Hutchins air sanders are known for, ensuring user comfort even during extended use. This lightweight yet robust sander is an essential tool for automotive body repair, woodworking, and any application where efficient surface preparation and shaping are paramount. Its design emphasizes reliability and ease of maintenance, reflecting its professional-grade construction.KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS: Aggressive Material Removal: The 5/16″ offset provides a wider sanding pattern, allowing for quick and effective removal of material, fillers, and coatings, saving considerable time on large projects. High Performance Air Motor: Operates at 12,000 RPM, delivering consistent power for demanding tasks and ensuring uniform sanding results. User Comfort and Control: Engineered to maintain low vibration levels and a balanced feel, reducing operator fatigue and allowing for precise control during aggressive sanding. Lightweight Design: Weighing approximately 3 lbs, its minimal weight enhances maneuverability and ease of use, particularly in overhead or extended applications. Made in USA Quality: Manufactured by Hutchins Manufacturing, ensuring adherence to high standards of quality, durability, and craftsmanship. PSA Pad System: Utilizes common 6-inch Pressure Sensitive Adhesive sanding discs, providing a secure grip for the most rigorous sanding jobs.SPECIFICATIONS: Model Name: Hutchins ProFinisher Model 700 Offset: 5/16″ (8 mm) Pad Size: 6 inches Pad Type: PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) Speed: 12,000 RPM Air Consumption: 10.7 CFM at 90 PSI Sound Level: 81 dBa Weight: 3 lbs Vacuum: Non-Vacuum Country of Manufacture: USA When purchased, the product typically includes: Hutchins ProFinisher Model 700 Sander, 6-inch PSA Backing Pad, Operating ManualHOW TO USE: Prepare the Air Supply: Connect the sander to a clean, dry, and regulated air supply. Ensure your air compressor can provide at least 10.7 CFM at 90 PSI for optimal performance. Attach Sanding Disc: Peel the backing off a 6-inch PSA sanding disc of your desired grit. Carefully align the disc with the sander’s pad and firmly press it onto the adhesive surface, ensuring no wrinkles or air bubbles. Inspect Workpiece: Ensure the surface to be sanded is clean and free of loose debris or contaminants that could scratch the surface or damage the sanding disc. Begin Sanding: Hold the sander firmly with both hands (if applicable), maintaining a balanced grip. Place the sanding disc flat against the workpiece. Activate Sander: Depress the trigger to start the sander. Move the sander in overlapping passes, keeping it flat on the surface. Avoid tilting the sander, as this can create uneven sanding patterns or gouges. Maintain Consistent Pressure: Apply consistent, light-to-moderate pressure. Let the sander’s speed and orbit do the work; excessive pressure will reduce its efficiency and shorten disc life. Monitor Progress: Regularly check the surface to monitor material removal and ensure desired results are being achieved. Change sanding discs as needed when they become worn or clogged. Complete Sanding: Once the desired finish is achieved, release the trigger and lift the sander from the workpiece. Disconnect the air supply when finished or before changing pads/discs.BENEFITS OF USING HUTCHINS 5/16″ OFFSET SANDER 6″ PSA (700): Accelerated Workflow: Dramatically reduces the time required for sanding tasks, enhancing overall productivity in professional environments. Superior Surface Preparation: The aggressive orbit ensures quick removal of imperfections, old finishes, or body fillers, creating an ideal surface for subsequent coatings or processes. Professional Finish: Despite its speed, the random orbital action helps to minimize swirl marks, leading to a smoother, more uniform finish. Reduced User Fatigue: The combination of low vibration and lightweight design allows operators to work longer with less discomfort, improving efficiency and well-being. Cost-Effective Operation: Designed for durability and easy maintenance, contributing to lower long-term operating costs and minimal downtime.FEATURES: Integrated exhaust system directs air away from the operator. Easy-to-replace drop-in motor assembly for simplified servicing. Ergonomically designed housing for comfortable grip and control. Robust construction optimized for professional, heavy-duty use. Compatible with standard 6-inch PSA abrasive discs. Precision-balanced components for smooth, consistent operation.
