The Irwin 1/8″ Bright 118-Jobber Drill Bit (60108) is a reliable and versatile tool designed for a wide range of general-purpose drilling tasks. Made from high-quality M-2 High-Speed Steel (HSS), this bit provides a dependable combination of strength, heat resistance, and cutting performance. Its 1/8-inch diameter is ideal for creating small, precise holes in various materials, including wood, plastic, and soft metals. The standard 118-degree point angle is well-suited for general applications, providing a solid entry point without the need for a self-centering tip. The right-hand cutting direction and straight shank design ensure compatibility with a variety of drilling equipment, from handheld portable drills to stationary drill presses. With its durable construction and efficient spiral flute design, the Irwin 60108 drill bit is an essential addition to any toolbox, offering consistent results for both professional tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts.KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS: M-2 High-Speed Steel Construction: The drill bit is made from M-2 HSS, offering a reliable balance of hardness and toughness. This material provides good resistance to wear and heat, extending the life of the bit and ensuring consistent cutting performance over time. Versatile Application: Designed for general-purpose drilling, this bit is effective across multiple material types. It is suitable for drilling holes in wood, plastic, and various metals, making it a highly useful tool for a broad spectrum of projects. Efficient Chip Ejection: The spiral flute design is engineered to efficiently clear debris from the hole as you drill. This feature helps prevent material buildup, reduces friction, and allows for smoother, faster drilling while minimizing the risk of the bit overheating. Standard Point Angle: The 118-degree point angle is a well-established standard for general drilling tasks. This angle provides a robust cutting tip for a variety of materials without being overly specialized, making the bit a flexible choice for everyday use. Compatible with Common Tools: Featuring a straight shank, this drill bit is compatible with the chucks of most common drilling machines, including cordless and corded portable drills as well as drill presses.SPECIFICATIONS: Drill Diameter: 1/8 inch Material: M-2 High-Speed Steel (HSS) Finish: Bright Point Angle: 118 degrees Cutting Direction: Right-hand Shank Type: Straight ShankHOW TO USE: Preparation: Always wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses, before starting. Secure the material you are drilling into to prevent it from moving. Mounting the Bit: Insert the straight shank of the 1/8-inch Irwin drill bit into the chuck of your drill or drill press. Ensure the bit is centered and securely tightened to prevent it from wobbling or coming loose during operation. Positioning: Place the tip of the bit on the precise location where you intend to drill the hole. Drilling: Begin drilling by applying light, steady pressure. Use a moderate speed appropriate for the material you are working with. For harder materials, it is often best to use a slower speed to prevent the bit from overheating. Allow the bit’s spiral flutes to clear the chips as you drill. Completion: Once the desired depth is reached, pull the bit straight out of the hole while the drill is still running to help clear any remaining debris. Turn off the drill and carefully remove the bit from the chuck.BENEFITS OF USING IRWIN 1/8″ BRIGHT 118-JOBBER DRILL BIT (60108): This drill bit offers consistent and dependable performance for routine drilling tasks. The high-speed steel composition provides longevity and resistance to heat-related damage. It is a versatile tool that can be used effectively on various materials, reducing the need for multiple specialized bits. The design promotes efficient material removal, leading to cleaner holes and a faster drilling process. Its compatibility with standard drilling equipment makes it a convenient and practical choice for any user.FEATURES: Heavy-duty spiral flute design for faster chip ejection.
